Kim Westbrook –  President, WIAA

Kim is a senior undergraduate Astronautical Aerospace Engineering student. In addition to WIAA, she is Co-President of the University of Maryland’s Terrapin Rocket Club. Kim spent last summer working at NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center contributing to habitability design efforts for Cislunar and Mars exploration spacecraft. In the future she hopes to continue working for NASA assisting in accomplishing manned spaceflight to Mars. She is passionate about WIAA because she believes that by leading by example WIAA has the power to combat the gender gap in STEM.

 

 

Elaine Petro – VP of Community Development, WIAA

Elaine is a graduate student working in the Space Power and Propulsion Laboratory (SPPL) at the University of Maryland. Elaine is currently pursuing Ph.D. research after working at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, where she contributed to the MAVEN Mars Orbiter and James Webb Space Telescope missions. Currently a Clark School Future Faculty Fellow, Elaine is interested in inspiring the next generation of engineers through teaching and outreach.
